Late Holiday Blog - Young Celebrity

0

Ok, I'm guilty of not posting this blog on December 16, 2009, but, I just had to share this moment. This was the day of my 3-year olds holiday debut---her rendition of Jingle Bells in front of a studio audience.

While it was suppose to be her and the entire 3 year old class that sung an angelic version of Jingle Bells in G major, my resilient 3-year old was the loudest singer. As she stared each audience member in the eyes, and yelled, in a sweet melodic voice that only a mother could appreciate, "In a one horse open sleigh, HEY, jingle bells jingle bells........". I was so proud of she (baby talk). While most of the other 3 year olds wiped their snotty noses with their sleeves, cried for their mommy, or just fidgeted with their fingers in their noses-----my baby girl was born for Broadway.......watch out Raven Simone & KeKe Palmer, Faith Richardson is Disney bound!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention.....see the bells that she holds in her hand? She rang those loud and proud as she sung her song. OMG, she can multitask with her talents too! Now, tell me a major motion picture is not in my baby girls future :-).

Cheers!

0
It's always to nice to retire my evening with a glass of wine, what I like to call a "tidy toast". Why use the word "tidy" to describe this time of the day? Because it is only enjoyable when my thoughts are clear, my daily to do list is complete, and my house and family are in order. Then, I can lift my glass to acknowledge all I've accomplished in the past 16-18 hours, and be thankful that I can have another "tidy toast". Sips 1, 2 and 3 that I take from my wine glass have significant meanings----they are to life, love and the lady; the remaining sips are to lush, forget about it.

The first sip is for the blessings I call my "life"--two lovely daugthers, an awesome husband (whose a great dad, lover and friend), healthy parents (that love and adore the company of their grandkids), and friends (who like having me around).

The second sip is for "love"--embracing those who love me despite their faults, and giving to those that have given so much to me.

The third sip is for maintaining my "lady" status throughout the day even when the "catty" chic has tested my patience.

All other sips are for the intoxication---just a little something to make evening EXCITING!!!!!!

What I Like To Call----Sarcastic Assism

0
On occasion when referencing the personality of my husband, I'll call him a asshole. Though I love him dearly, he truly has mastered and exerts the attitude that some refer to as a "True New Yorker", but, I like to call it "Sarcastic Assism".

While I appreciate his honesty (which is why he is my best friend and lover), he sure knows how to make you feel like an idiot for not recognizing the truth before he speaks it. I think the fact that I know he loves me dulls down the cutting edge of the words he utters to me in a sarcastic tone. But, its those words, with that attitude, that prompt me to rethink my position and reconsider my options, and for that I'm thankful. Thankful that, he opens the door for me to focus in a comfortable environment. Thankful that, he lends me a tough love type of guidance and allows me to confide in him my deepest fears, and thankful that, he continues to love me despite my inadequacies.

Never knew such a harsh title, "Sarcastic Assism", used to describe such a harsh attitude could have such a loving and captivating definition.

Just Leave Me Alone

0
Today was definitely one of those days that I just wanted to be left alone. While I did want some form of human contact---I wanted it to be at my own discretion. I think I'll turn in early tonight, and rid myself of this anti-sociable FUNK!

Righteous Rhetoric Road

0
It has been on several occasions that my dearest friends have spoken these words to me, "You better than me, because I would have said something." While these words do not ring true for me in most situations, they do when I'm hurt by or dissappointed in loved ones and friends. The saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me," is far from the truth. When people you love, and/or care for, look you in the eyes and spit selfish, degrading rhetoric---it hurts .

Although I very seldom cross the threshold of a sanctuary, I was raised as a PK (Preacher's Kid) and for this reason my belief in God and the teachings of the Bible are often a source of comfort for me. I'm reminded of a verse that my father use to read to me when I allowed negative emotions to guide my responses, it was Proverbs 15: 28 - The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. I consider my father to be a wise man who always encouraged me to listen, process, work through my emotions, give a honest response and leave NO room for further questions or discussion.

So to my dearest friends that tell me, "You better than me, because I would have said something," ---this blog should prove that I listen and understand what you are saying. And I say this to you, I know you love me, and I only hope that in the midst of my silence you're able to see a woman that loves more than I hate, fears God and believes that my actions speak louder than words and leave NO room for misinterpretation.

Ode to Shoes

2
Ok, my shoe collection has officially surpassed my wardrobe. I think I have an official shoe fetish--I buy first and worry about matching them up with an outfit later. So you know what this means---Yes America, there are boxes of shoes in my closet that haven't been worn. Its sooooooo bad, I put my shoes on first and then get dressed. When I think about it I'm sadden because it seems so wasteful and self-indulged to buy shoes that I really don't need.

But, I'll ease my pain by buying these two must haves:

UGG's (LEATHER--OMG, these are HOT!!!!!!)

Huh, Neurorectal Opthalmology?

0
I heard this term for the first time today. The user described it as a human condition "when your eyes get crossed with your eyelids and asshole and you have a shitty outlook on life." I'll admit, at first I thought WTF, there is actually a scientific term for this? Then, I wondered does this shitty outlook apply to life experiences that impact an individually directly and/or indirectly, and what is the users intended definition of the term "shitty"?

Ok, for starters let's google the term "shitty". This term is described as vulgar slang meaning-- of very poor quality; unfortunate; incompetent; trivial; being in a state of discomfort and unhappiness.

Ok now, the term "life"; the physical, mental or spiritual experiences that constitute existence.

Well, now that I've broken this down. The inevitable proves to be true----I've suffered with and will probably suffer future occurrences of Neurorectal Opthalmology. Just to name a few instances:

Physical experiences: Sorry, but I do think it is unfortunate that a women has a menstrual cycle every month, 3-7 days at a time for 20+ years. Call it what you want, but I'll accept that when my monthly comes around I suffer with Neurorectal Opthalmology.

Mental: I think about a whole lot of things that are of very poor quality, and they tend to make me uncomfortable and unhappy. Just to name a few----paying bills; going to work; crime; poverty--I could on, but, I'm experiencing Neurorectal Opthalmology as I write!

Spiritual: (Please forgive me Lord for I'm about to sin) But, I've been to church and witnessed the misappropriation of funds. I understand the theory that a "megachurch will reap megabucks", but for what reason does the pastor need a helicopter, 24KT gold wall trimming in their home, and not one, but two Maybach's? While I don't see the term trifling under our list of terms for "shitty", I think my perspective qualifies as having Neurorectal Opthalmology.

So, what do you think? Am I alone, or do you too at times suffer with this disease? Well, if you do, this is one to grow on. There is actually a scientific term for this condition.

Now, if this doesn't justify the legalization of marijuana as the cure, then I don't know what will. Scientific research proves that the most common side effect from the inhalation of marijuana, cannabis or ganja (whichever term you prefer) is subjective change of perception. Therefore, this will assist with uncrossing my eyes, eyelids and asshole; thereby, preventing this common disease we know as Neurorectal Opthalmology.

Puff, Puff, Pass my dude! Peace and blessings.

The Thoughts of a Phenomenal Woman

0
I often wonder what my closest friends think of me? Do they confide in me daily just to hear themselves speak, or do they truly value my opinion, and sometimes advice?

I often wonder what my supervisor thinks of me? Does s/he feel I lack the potential to professionally succeed, or do they fear my perseverance?

I often wonder what my husband thinks of me? Does he miss the girl I use to be, or does he admire the woman I am today?

I often wonder what my two daughters think of me? Do they long for their days of independence , or do they wish mom could be there for them more?

I often wonder what my parents think of me? Do they ask where they may have went wrong, or are they proud of who I am and what I aspire to be?

I'm convinced that these questions will always go unanswered, because they solicit the feelings of my closest confidants and the people I love the most. The same feelings that are here today, and potentially gone tomorrow.

So I often answer these questions with a response that defines what I think of me, and I'm partial to Maya Angelou's interpretation of me:

To my friends, I say: Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size. But when I start to tell them,They think I'm telling lies. I say, It's in the reach of my arms The span of my hips,The stride of my step,The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally.Phenomenal woman,That's me.

To my supervisor, I say: It's the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth,The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet. I'm a woman Phenomenally.Phenomenal woman,That's me.

To the man I love, I say: Men themselves have wondered What they see in me.They try so much But they can't touch My inner mystery. When I try to show them They say they still can't see.I say,It's in the arch of my back,The sun of my smile,The ride of my breasts,The grace of my style. I'm a woman.

To my daughters, I say: Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed. I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing It ought to make you proud.

To my parents, I say: Thank you mom, for showing me how to be a real woman, wife and mother----And dad----- you sure know how to pick 'em.

Peace and Blessings.

Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman.........

1
So, I just watched the movie "Obsessed," starring Beyonce Knowles and Idris Elba. I know----its been out of the movie theatre for awhile, but, I couldn't convince myself to pay $11.00 for another "Fatal Attraction" flic. But, I did spend $15.99 to add this one to our collection, and experience 116 minutes of agitation, disappointment and dissatisfaction.

Agitation - Don't ever allow the old cliche, "Out of sight, out of mind," to end a volatile situation. Because for some, leaving is not ending-- its just personal time and space to contemplate, plot and start scheming.

Disappointment - The best time to tell someone something you're sure they don't want to hear, is the moment that NOT telling them is the only thing you can think about.

Dissatisfaction - Beyonce and those damn stilettos! She ain't beat dat chic down, like I NEEDED HER TO BEAT DAT TRICK DOWN! I'm thinking upper cut, upper cut, right jab, right jab and a few knee thrusts. Forget balancing my weight on a beam while this tramp swings on me with a 2 by 4, and definitely not in 6 inch stilettos. Ok, ok, I'm not the violent type, and the girl ONLY came in your house uninvited and laid her naked ass in your bed. But, when she decided to go in YOUR wine stash a pop the top on YOUR favorite champagne--uh huh, that trick gotta die!

Well, one flic down, one to go---The Soloist! I just love a good new release day :-). Holla!

Play on a Winning Team

0
A wise man once said, "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success." It was Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motors, that spoke these words. I continue to read these words in hopes that it will motivate me to be a more flexible and understanding team player; however, I often question Henry's motivation. I'll assume Ford made this statement to encourage his employees to operate as a unit, and regard the design and assembly of Ford vehicles as a collaborative process. The logic behind his concept may have been that if people work together as a cohesive unit, they'll design and create vehicles that work as a cohesive unit. Should I also assume that Ford hired only people that valued the success of Ford Motors? I'm not sure of Henry Ford's employee rentention rate; however, Ford vehicle's maintain as an industry competitor.

In my experience, "Being assigned to a team is the beginning, staying together is a requirement, and working together can create unpredictable results." There is always at least one person, that values crossing the finish line more than being the winner. Some prefer to describe the latter as an overachiever, but, a winner will remain in the competition, and move on to achieve better results. In the meantime, those that desired to just cross the finish line will join the onlookers or start from the beginning.

"Be a winner"

Guess whose coming to dinner?

0
Maybe its the person that parked their minivan is my parking slot. Ok, I'm normally not this petty, I mean, a parking slot is a parking slot. But, we have one slot with our house number on it (hint, hint: Did they not see the the HUGE # painted on the concrete), and one open parking slot. However, for the past 3 years we've lived here a car has been parked in our open slot, everyday all day. So now, yes, I'm pissed, not petty but pissed. I was forced to park in my neighborbors open slot, and I know they're thinking why won't these people call the county about that car in their open slot with the expired tags, 2004 to be exact. Argh, I don't have time for neighborhood politics--this sucks. I have to say, Angela Bassett handle the car situation bravely on "Waiting to Exhale", wish life was that easy. So, guess whose coming to dinner? Mama Lucia's. Because, I'll just order pizza, do my homework, and hope this disregardful driver moves their damn car!

Honesty Heals

1
In my youngers years I remember my mother and father telling me, "Just tell the truth and you'll feel better." While I thought then that the physical lashing my parents would bestow upon me definitely would NOT make me feel better, I'll admit, the whippin' lasted about 3 minutes, yet, the guilt still resides in my soul today for all my childhood untruths.

Now that my younger years have passed, in my adults years it is often times that my friends present me with the challenge of "sparing their feelings", "being honest" or "being PAINFULLY honest". I prefer to continuously practice "being honest", but, some of my strong minded friends interpret this as a weakness, and attempt to go in for "da kill". Then, I have to bring "da pain"! Ladies, if it looks like a pig, smells like a pig, snorts like a pig and rolls in mud like a pig, then DAMN IT, that m****f**** IS A PIG. I say that to mean this, if you ask my opinion and you're not happy with it, don't get belligerent and up in your feelings with me, your friend. Hell, IT IS my opinion. Just carry on, and direct your frustration towards the associate that you spoke with before me that decided to spare your feelings.

"Friends tell friends the truth."

Uhh huh Rudeness!

The Dynamics of Human Communication

0
I often wish my undergraduate years weren't based on the art of human communication; however, these years revealed and strenghthen my ability to focus on nonverbal cues while actively listening. The observation of humans communicating afford some revelations; revelations can serve as an incredible self driver.

Morning Revelation: Chris Brown wants to be forgiven, but, more so by his fans than Rihanna.

The teleprompter, the scripted speech, and the raise in both brows. All indicators that the stage was set, the curtain was up and the play began. A plea for forgiveness is unscripted, not written but heartfelt, and definitely not uncertain.

Afternoon Revelation: Friends don't judge you by the relationships you share with others.

One difference between a true friend and an acquaintance is, the relationship the two of you share even in the midst of opposing social circles.

Evening Revelation: I should release the school girl stance when blogging.

This is my first posting, and I'm a little nervous. I'm still viewing my blog as an assignment versus an opportunity for creative writing. Hopefully over time I'll relax more and not think so hard.

Uhh huh Rudeness!
